MOFFETT FIELD - Major Johanna Montgomery, Leadership Officer for the John J. Montgomery Cadet Squadron in San Jose, California, and Capt Keith Stason, Deputy Commander for Cadets for the Jon E. Kramer Composite Squadron, Palo Alto, California, completed Region Staff College on May 27, 2005.

During the 7-day course, Montgomery and Stason participated in seminar discussions, case studies, and practical exercises designed to provide senior members with the ability to better execute the duties and responsibilities associated with CAP command and staff positions.

Major Montgomery noted that aside from the formal curriculum, "a very rewarding aspect of Region Staff College was the chance to meet and work with people from other wings." Major Montgomery was one of eight people within Seminar 3; a collection of students from various wings throughout Pacific Region.

Capt Stason, in addition to his own completion of the demanding course, was surprised by an impromptu promotion ceremony. "My promotion had gone through shortly before I left for Region Staff College, but I was not expecting anybody to make any production of it," Stason light-heartedly noted.

Each CAP officer has now completed a vital professional development requirement necessary for completing the Paul E. Garber Award.

Both Montgomery and Stason have additional responsibilities as staff members of Group 2, serving as the Group's Public Affairs Officer and Stan/Eval Officer, respectively.
