Lt Col James H. Sena serves as the Commander for the John J. Montgomery Memorial Cadet Squadron 36. As such, he is responsible to the San Francisco Bay Group 2 Commander for ensuring that Civil Air Patrol's objectives, policies, and operational directives are effectively executed within the squadron. Lt Col Sena entered the Civil Air Patrol in 1990 as a senior member with the John J. Montgomery Memorial Cadet Squadron 36, California Wing. Throughout his CAP membership, he has specialized in Cadet Programs. Lt Col Sena also has served as a director for a Squadron Leadership Professional Development course and is a graduate of National Staff College. Lt Col Sena has completed the Advanced Basic Communications Training Course. Lt Col Sena is also a recipient of the Gill Robb Wilson Award, #2470. From a historical perspective, Lt Col Sena is the longest continuously-serving senior in Squadron 36 and is the only senior member to serve two independent terms as commander for Squadron 36. He is married to the former Miss Jacoba M-L. Vanderputten of San Jose, California and is the proud father of 29-year old daughter, Johanna, of San Jose, California and 22-year old daughter, Julie, of Salem, Oregon.
