Welcome Message from the Commander

Thank you for taking a moment to learn about "Team 36." My fellow adult volunteers and I take great pride in providing a well-rounded program for young people throughout the Silicon Valley. Each Tuesday, many of San Jose's youth come together to hone various skills for use in the real world û be it in the school, the community, within their faith, or as outstanding family members in the home. Squadron 36 has a proven track record of success stories, to include countless college graduates, members of the Armed Forces, and folks that go out and do great things for others.

Our program is primarily focused upon the cadet program, which provides an environment patterned after the Air Force's training environment. However, the scope of our program does not solely rest upon marching and saluting. Squadron 36 provides flag presentation services by request, opportunities for youth to get involved with airplanes (to include flying aboard a few!) and chances to compete for scholarships. Let's also not forget our being a vital asset in providing Emergency Services support to the Civil Air Patrol and the community in times of need.

“It's not light work, but it is extremely rewarding to see the faces of our youth when they achieve great things.”

A military career is not the benchmark upon which our program is based. Rather, our focus is to supplement the teachings young people gather from families to make great citizens for America. You have my word that my staff and I will honor our focus to the best degree possible. We provide tomorrow's leaders tools to make their world a better place. It's not light work, but it is extremely rewarding to see the faces of our youth when they achieve great things.

Experience the pride we feel by stopping in and introducing yourselves. Our cadets' supporters -- families, friends, whomever -- are always welcome to observe, meet with our staff, or perhaps consider joining up as well.

Enjoy your visit to Squadron 36's website. Come back any time!

Ken Palmer, Capt, CAP
Commander, PCR-CA-334
